Steigerwald Mineralbrunnen recalls mineral water and sweet drinks
Steigerwald Mineralbrunnen GmbH from Oberscheinfeld in Bavaria has started a recall for mineral water and sweet drinks. According to the company, a foreign body has been found in a bottle. Affected products should not be consumed.
Recall for mineral water started
The company Steigerwald Mineralbrunnen GmbH from Oberscheinfeld (Bavaria) "voluntarily calls mineral water of the brands Steigerwald, Schwarzenbergquelle, Owalis, Marktquelle and elements with an MHD 10.01.2019 - 23.02.2019 and sweet drinks of the brands Steigerwald, Owalis and Marktquelle for reasons of preventive consumer protection an MHD 10.01.2018 - 23.02.2018 back, ”reports the company on its website.
Affected drinks should not be consumed
The best before dates are on the top of the bottle. A foreign body was reportedly found in a bottle of the batches mentioned above.
Customers are asked to refrain from eating and return the items to the point of sale. There the product is exchanged or the purchase value is reimbursed.
The drinks were sold at the food discount store "Netto", which also draws attention to the recall on its website.
Foreign bodies cannot be completely excluded
Due to errors in the manufacturing processes, contamination or foreign bodies in food products can occur again and again.
According to the consumer advice center in North Rhine-Westphalia, foreign bodies cannot be ruled out 100 percent even if the surveillance should always be complete.
Potato salads had only recently been recalled because of a foreign body risk.
In addition to foreign bodies, contamination with health-threatening germs is a common reason for food recalls. (ad)
