The hormonal Viagra Kisspetin is said to help reluctance

Study: A hormone can help men to have a fulfilled sex life again
As men age, some men experience problems with their sexual desire and potency. There seems to be a new way for those affected to fix this problem. Researchers found that a certain hormone can increase sexual desire in those affected and thus lead to a fulfilling sex life again.

Scientists at the renowned Imperial College London found in an investigation that an injection of the hormone kisspeptin leads to increased sexual desire in men. The doctors published the results of their study in the journal "Journal of Clinical Investigation".

Hormone increases activity in certain brain regions
With age, sexual desire disappears in some men. Injecting a certain hormone appears to reverse this process. A study of 29 young heterosexual men found that the intake leads to increased activity in the part of the brain that is normally activated by romance or excitement, the experts say.

After hormone injection, the brain reacts more to erotic influences
The subjects had to look at two sets of images during the study. One set of pictures was sexually erotic, the other set showed no sexually exciting pictures of couples. With the help of a so-called MRI device (magnetic resonance tomography), an increased activity in the part of the brain was observed in the volunteers, which is activated by excitation when the test subjects viewed the erotic photos. This effect did not occur when the non-erotic control images were viewed, the scientists explain.

Results could improve the sex life of many couples
Ultimately, the goal of our investigation was to find out whether the hormone kisspeptin is an effective treatment for so-called psychosexual disorders, explains lead author Professor Waljit Dhillo from the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London. We are very happy with the results of our research and believe that they can help countless couples with their problem in the future, the doctor adds.

The brain plays an important role in sexual desire
Most studies of infertility or potency problems focus primarily on the underlying biological factors, the study's authors say. Of course, physical influences are important in reproduction and the resulting sexual desire, but the brain and various emotional processes also play an important role, explains Professor Dhillo. And precisely these processes have not yet been fully clarified and have so far only been partially understood.

More research is needed
The hormone is naturally present in all people. This is why kisspeptin is easy and safe to use, the doctors explain. The hormone is an interesting way to treat sexual disorders and may even be helpful in treating depression, says co-author Dr. Alexander Comninos from Imperial College London. However, further studies would be needed to check these results more closely.

Study result:
“Our study revealed the following results: Kisspetin increases sexual and romantic brain activity. In addition, the hormone reduces negative moods, ”explains Dr. Comninos.
