What helps if you still feel wheeled after eight hours of sleep
More and more people suffer from chronic lack of sleep. According to experts, around every second adult often has problems falling asleep or staying asleep. However, there are also people who find enough sleep at night and are still properly wheeled the next day. Why is that and what can you do about it?
Good reasons for more sleep
Lack of sleep is a health hazard. Scientific studies have shown that those who sleep too little often catch colds more often. In addition, people who sleep too little increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and heart attack, obesity or diabetes. So there are good reasons for more sleep. However, a long night's sleep does not necessarily ensure that you are fit the next day.
When you are tired despite long sleep
Health experts say adults between the ages of 18 and 64 should sleep seven to nine hours. But for some people, tiredness may not go away despite a long night's sleep.
This may be due to too much stress. This not only ensures that you cannot fall asleep at all, but also often continues to work when we are already asleep.
Put thoughts on the right track
Experts therefore advise getting your thoughts on the right track before going to sleep. Prof. Kneginja Richter, head of the bed clinic at the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Nuremberg Clinic, recommends a visualization technique for this.
In a message on the Microsoft web portal "MSN", she said: "Imagine an image with which you associate positive emotions, e.g. B. how you lie on the beach. Memorize every detail until you doze off. ”
It is also a good idea to write down your worries in short sentences right before going to bed. Endurance sports are also recommended as they reduce stress hormones. However, the training must be finished at least two hours before falling asleep, otherwise you will not be able to rest.
In addition, lavender oil or other herbal home remedies can help with sleep disorders. Valerian also helps with sleep problems. (ad)
