Pimples, blackheads and blemished skin: usually do without these foods

Healthy foods can also promote blemished skin and pimples

Diet has a major impact on our skin. Most people are aware that certain foods such as candy or chips favor blemished skin. However, not only unhealthy foods can lead to pimples and blackheads.

Stay away from chips and sweets

There are numerous causes for blemished skin. In addition to reasons such as environmental influences or incorrect care, nutrition also plays an important role. According to health experts, there is evidence that very sweet or very fatty foods can promote acne, pimples and blackheads. That is why it is better to stay away from chips, fries, ice cream and other foods with a lot of sugar. But it is not just unhealthy foods that can cause blemishes.

Not only teenagers have blemished skin

Pimples and blackheads are common among adolescents during puberty. Acne is also relatively common in adults.

Those affected then often try to use cosmetics or home remedies to treat pimples and oily skin.

In most cases, however, it would make sense to first find the possible causes of the skin problems and then to avoid them.

Different reasons for problem skin

There are many reasons for problem skin: For example, stress, incorrect cosmetic products or hygiene, hormonal dispositions, certain medications or an unhealthy diet can result in pimples and blackheads.

But even foods that are considered healthy can sometimes lead to blemished skin. For example, a study by American scientists shows that - supposedly healthy - low-fat products can be disadvantageous for the skin.

The researchers reported that whole milk was better for pimples than skim milk. However, this study does not show whether skimmed milk consumption increases acne susceptibility.

Supposedly healthy foods promote pimples

The fact that low-fat dairy products can be detrimental to the skin is also partly due to the fact that the missing fat is replaced by other flavor carriers such as sugar. This promotes pimples.

In the case of other supposedly healthy foods, too, ingredients are often contained, which ultimately lead to the discouragement of such products.

Some green smoothies available in the supermarket contain as much sugar as cola.

Especially when it comes to finished products, you should always pay attention to what's inside.

In addition to the right diet, sufferers can usually help with various home remedies for acne. Examples include medicinal clay, tea tree oil and aloe vera.

It is better not to express pimples, because this often exacerbates the problem. (ad)
