Recall: Other chips could be in “Chipsfrisch Hungarian” from funny-fresh
The snack manufacturer Intersnack Knabber-Gebäck GmbH & Co. KG, based in Cologne, has started a recall for the product "Chips fresh Hungarian". Some packs may contain a different flavor that uses a spice that could be dangerous for some allergy sufferers.
Bottled wrong flavor
The snack manufacturer Intersnack Knabber-Gebäck GmbH & Co. KG, based in Cologne, informs funny-Frisch customers in a consumer information about the recall of "crispy Hungarian" 175g with the batch number: LGQ 07 E 25.06.2018. According to the company, in some packages, instead of Hungarian-style potato chips, sour cream products were filled. "The spice used for the sour cream taste contains the allergen milk, which is not declared on the packaging," warns the manufacturer.
Product can be consumed by non-allergy sufferers without any problems
According to the information, the packaged goods are of impeccable quality. The recall is a mere precautionary measure to protect people suffering from a milk protein allergy.
The product can be safely consumed by all other people.
The company asks the customers to send the affected goods (freight collect) - stating the sender - to the manufacturer. The purchased product will be replaced.
Possible health complaints
Milk protein allergy, also known as cow's milk allergy, is a food allergy that is estimated to affect about two to three percent of infants and young children and one percent of adults in Europe.
Even the smallest amount of milk can be enough to trigger allergic reactions. According to health experts, the symptoms can appear immediately after consumption or in some cases even days after consumption.
In children, the allergy is often manifested by symptoms such as tingling in the mouth, itching and swelling on the mucous membranes and skin and skin eczema.
In addition, gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, colic, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation can occur.
So-called anaphylactic reactions are also possible in severe cases. The most severe form is the life-threatening anaphylactic shock. (ad)
