Appendix

The appendix (caecum) is a kind of sac at the transition between the large and small intestine, which ends at the bottom in the so-called appendix. Most people are not aware of the appendix because of its functions for the organism, but because of the symptoms of appendicitis. However, this actually represents inflammation of the worm process. Massive abdominal pain, often accompanied by loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting are typical complaints here. In the worst case, there is a risk of a life-threatening appendectomy. Today it is proven that - contrary to the original assumptions - the appendix has an organic function. (fp)
