Beer belly

A beer belly is a strong formation of so-called visceral fat (belly fat), which is generally considered to be particularly unhealthy. The beer belly is usually bulging forward and relatively hard. Of course, this type of fat accumulation can also be caused by other factors, but because men who regularly drink beer are particularly often affected, the term “beer belly” has become established. Beer consumption leads to increased fat formation for two reasons. On the one hand, a relatively large number of calories are consumed with the beer, on the other hand, beer consumption stimulates the appetite, which leads to increased food intake. (fp)
