Pregnant women need not be afraid of allergies
The topic “fish” often leads to discussions and uncertainties during pregnancy. In the past, pregnant women were actually advised not to eat fish to protect the child from a possible allergy. But this view is now outdated. Today, experts rather recommend eating fatty sea fish as part of a balanced diet, explains the German Skin and Allergy Aid.

Two fish meals a week
Because this contains important nutrients that can even protect against allergies. A recent study found that pregnant women should eat fatty fish to protect their children from asthma. Because this contains plenty of omega-3 fatty acids, which play an important role in the development of the child's brain, eyes and central nervous system. Added to this are vitamin D, selenium, iodine and easily digestible protein.

The German Nutrition Society recommends two fish meals a week, preferably once with high-fat sea fish such as herring, mackerel or salmon.

But be careful: Pregnant women should not eat raw fish and seafood such as Eat sushi and uncooked oysters to prevent dangerous infectious diseases such as listeriosis or e.g. to avoid fish tapeworm infestation.
